House System
The House system at Daubeney Academy consists of 4 different houses. There is one tutor group per house in each year group. The houses were researched by the School Council and presented to SLT to finalise the decisions on the house names.
The 4 houses provide a representation of the diversity of the school, a connection with the community and are aspirational role models in different subject areas.
Abrahams - Harold Abrahams CBE a Jewish Track and Field athlete, journalist, radio broadcaster and author was born in Bedford in 1899. tic Association.
Boatswain - Jacqueline Boatswain an actress of TV and film was born in Bedford in 1962.
Walmsley - Amy Walmsley a teacher, politician, councillor, businesswoman and suffragette born in Bedford in 1868
Whittemore - Lieutenant Frederick Whittemore MC fought and died in WW1 in the Bedfordshire Regiment was born in Bedford in 1878.
The House system is represented throughout the school. Every member of staff and all students belong to a house. Each Year group has a House Leader and a House Captain oversees the House. All achievement points awarded to students are converted to House Points. There are weekly, termly and annual House competitions that are run throughout the school each academic year.
House totals are updated weekly and the winning house is awarded the House cup at the end of the Academic year.
